BLESSED SACRAMENT 1901-2007 106 years of history.

A Chicago, Illinois priest by the name of father Edward Joseph Dunne was named to be shepherd of the growing frontier known as the Diocese of Dallas. He was installed as Dallas second bishop on January 17, 1984 in Dallas just across the Trinity River from Dallas, the suburb referred to as Oak Cliff was beginning to blossom.

On March 25, 1901, Bishop Dunne erected Blessed Sacrament parish in Oak Cliff, the founding pastor was father J.L. Campbell. Blessed Sacrament was located at 12th and Grand street-Grand was then converted to Marsalis. The first church was a two-story building. The upper floor was the church and the lower was the school. It was later remolded to a one story building. Blessed Sacrament's permanent church building and rectory were dedicated in 1954.

Blessed Sacrament school was opened in 1902 and was staffed by the sisters of St. Mary of Namur. Our lady of Good Counsel Academy was opened. After sixty years  Bishop Dunne High School was named after him. Bishop Dunne High school relocated to Rugged drive in oak Cliff, but still remains a strong institution of learning-in the catholic faith-a tradition which started at Blessed sacrament in 1901.
